Principal's Message

My name is Chenale Taylor-Maye, and it is both an honor and a privilege to serve as the Principal and Instructional Leader of The Alberta School of Performing Arts for the 2026–2027 school year. I am excited to begin another year serving this incredible school community and am proud to have been a member of the TASPA family for the past six years.

With 19 years of experience in education, my passion for teaching, learning, and leading continues to grow each day. I am committed to creating a positive, inclusive, and academically rigorous environment where every student is challenged, supported, and inspired to reach their full potential. At TASPA, we believe every child deserves to feel safe, valued, and empowered to succeed.

As I lead The Alberta School of Performing Arts, I am incredibly proud of the progress our school community has made. Since the 2024–2025 school year, our State Report Card score has increased each year. Over the past three years, we have improved by 14 points, with a projected State Report Card score of 88 (B).

This achievement is a direct reflection of the dedication and hard work of our teachers, students, faculty, staff, families, and stakeholders throughout the Alberta community. Together, we have remained committed to providing high-quality instruction, fostering meaningful relationships, and creating opportunities for every student to succeed.

We are proud of our accomplishments and remain focused on building upon this momentum. Our students deserve to be surrounded by individuals and organizations that believe in them, support their growth, and speak positively about the work being done within our school community.

Our goal is to continue this trajectory of success because our students are the future leaders of tomorrow, and they deserve the very best. We will continue to work tirelessly to ensure they receive an exceptional education in a positive, supportive, and respectful environment.

At The Alberta School of Performing Arts, we are dedicated to developing the whole child through high academic expectations and exceptional opportunities in the performing arts. We believe our students are future leaders, creators, and innovators, and we are committed to providing them with the very best educational experience possible.

As we begin this new school year, our theme is "Level UP." This theme represents our commitment to embracing new opportunities, setting high expectations, and continuously striving for excellence in academics, the arts, leadership, and character. Together, we will continue building on the strong foundation that has made TASPA a place where students thrive and achieve.

I encourage you to stay actively involved in your child's education throughout the school year. Strong partnerships between home and school are essential to student success, and I value open communication with all of our families. Please do not hesitate to reach out if you have questions, concerns, or ideas. Together, we can ensure every TASPA Star has an outstanding school year.
